IRB Presentations & Consultations
One of BYU’s four major educational goals is this: scholarly research and creative endeavor among both faculty and students, including those in selected graduate programs of real consequence, are essential and will be encouraged.
The work that you are doing matters, and we are grateful that you are here researching at BYU! As IRB staff, we are here to help make sure that you have everything you need to navigate the approval process so that you can produce research “for the benefit of the world.”
IRB Presentation/Consultation Request
Presentations
To support your students in learning to write IRB applications, we would be happy to give group presentations to introduce the process, share resources, and answer questions. These presentations will be offered by graduate compliance assistants who pre-screen applications or IRB Staff Members.
Have questions about the form or application system? Want to ensure your submission is complete for a smooth review process? Meet one-on-one with IRB graduate compliance assistants or IRB Staff members for personalized guidance and application review.
Consultations will be up to 30 minutes long and held over Zoom. We will review your application draft in OneAegis (if applicable) and email you to find a time to meet!

- The typical visits lasts 5–10 minutes
- Presentations can be at the beginning or the end of class, whichever works best
- Presentations can also be offered to graduate student orientations, lab groups, etc.
- We’ll confirm the date and time before our visit
- We’re more than happy to cater our presentation to your specific course or group
- Please assign your students to complete CITI training before the presentation
- Virtual visits are possible
